St. John’s County is located in northeastern Florida. St John’s County is home to Ponte Verde Beach, which makes St John’s County one of the highest income counties in the state. The current population is close to 165,000. The major law enforcement agency of the county is St. John’s County Sheriff’s. The other law enforcement agencies include St. Augustine Police Department, St. Augustine Beach Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol.

 

The law enforcement agencies of the county have a zero tolerance for speeding. This can be seen in the 30,000 moving violations that were issued last year. More than half of those were issued for unlawful speed. Florida Highway Patrol,along with the other law enforcement agencies, use speed traps, pacing, the use of unmarked and marked cars to catch as many speeding motorist as they can. When not issuing moving citation, the law enforcement of St. John’s County is busy writing criminal citations for such acts as driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, fleeing the scene of an accident as well as driving without a valid license. There were over 4,000 criminal citations issued last year.
