Florida Highway Patrol is quite aggressive in St. Lucie County. The use of speed traps, aircraft, motorcycles, pacing, and marked and unmarked cars equipped with radar and laser guns is very common. Last year over 35,000 moving violations were issued, and the majority of those were for unlawful speed. On top of the moving violations that were issued close to 7,500 criminal citations were also issued.
